Database designs were created with the VarioData builder. No knowledge of programming was needed to create database forms - simply drag and drop text, time and currency fields, along with a variety of standard NEXTSTEP interface elements, onto a data canvas. All the familiar choices, from popup lists, buttons andcheck boxes, to file and image wells, were available for use in data entry.
A point-and-click formula
editor allowed you to attach custom behavior to buttons,
which enableded your database to trigger electronic mail
messages, raise additional windows and panels, access
system calls and scripts and even pass information to
mission-critical applications. With the click of a button,
your database design was turned into a network-enabled,
multi-user database - sophisticated record locking
prevented users from unwittingly writing over vital
information. Powerful import/export features support access
to Microsoft Word, FrameMaker anda variety of other
standard merge formats.
