SchemaE

SchemaE was a schema engineering environment for SYBASE SQL Server and ORACLE database evolution.

SchemaE was a CASE and administration tool. At the start of each work session, SchemaE reverse engineered a database to present a comprehensive, up-to-date diagram of the database schema. Database designers, programmers, administrators, writers and users were all able to easily understand the SchemaE schema diagram. They could browse the database by clicking objects to get detail information and read or enter comments accompanying each object. Documentation that you added in SchemaE was stored with the database in tables. Custom dictionary tools could access (select/insent/ update/delete) the data in these tables.

SchemaE output SQL for version control; printed formatted table, type and procedure cross reference reports; and provided an SQL environment for interacting directly with the database.

SchemaE integrated into the NEXTSTEP Interface Builder and Database Kit by creating DBModel files. With these three tools, you could design the database, create the database and build the application interface, all without programming.
