Tar Viewer
Tar Viewer was an extension to the Workspace Manager File Viewer, which made it possible to browse tar files as if they were directories. Tar Viewer extended the functionality of the File Viewer so that it could read tar files. With Tar Viewer, double-clicking on a tar file opens a File Viewer, which could browse inside the tar file. Files and directories could be added, removed and extracted from the tar file by dragging the file or directory into or out of the tar file. Any file or document in the tar file could be started up directly from the File Viewer without having to unpack the tar file.
Tar Viewer made use of the technology developed for Author! Author!, Dolphin's premier document management product. The technology made it possible to extend the Workspace Manager to display any hierarchical data store as though it were simply a directory.
