SLAC Tools
Researchers at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) created revolutionary high energy physics analysis tools: Reason for statistical analysis, Minuit for function fitting, and Gismo, above, for particle detector simulation.
These analysis tools created with object-oriented C languages and the NeXTstep graphical interface let researchers analyze, visualize, and understand complex data in ways never before possible. With the NeXTstep development environment, researchers could even add graphical interfaces to older FORTRAN-based research tools.
