Teradata Adaptor

The Teradata Adaptor for the Database Kit provided developers with the tools to access a Teradata Database from a NEXTSTEP application. The NEXTSTEP application had fully integrated, flexible access to the data in a Teradata Database, a very large database system supported only on either a System 3600 computer or a DBC/1012 computer, both from AT&T Global Information Solutions.

The Teradata Adaptor required that the DBC/1012 have a LAN connection or that the System 3600 be running the Teradata Database. Also, the client machine needed an Ethernet card for TCP/IP communication with the Teradata Database, a disk drive that could read either 1.44- or 2.88- megabyte floppy disks and be running NEXTSTEP Release 3 or later.

Features included: Teradata gateway utilities and Call-Level Interface libraries, as well as scripts to install the demo databases, which enabled the SYBASE SQL Server and ORACLE demos to run on the Teradata Database.
