Pangea Groupware Engine

The Pangea Groupware Engine (PGE) was the advanced enterprise messaging server used by Pangea's MindShare and MindShare Mail programs. Built on a groupware-oriented object database, PGE provided infrastructure for message storage, message transfer, data formats, database replication, security and administration. Using PGE, NEXTSTEP software developers could create mission-critical custom applications without having to build a significant groupware and messaging infrastructure.

Various application programming interfaces to PGE are available. The PGE Utilities* provided an interface for UNIX utilities and other NEXTSTEP applications. Using the PGE Utilities, developers could quickly build data input and output filters for information services, such as Dow Jones. The PGE Development Kit provided a direct connection to PGE servers, allowing developers to implement full-fledged graphical PGE clients akin to MindShare and MindShare Mail.
