Distributed Data Manager
The Distributed Data Manager (DDM) was a distributed relational database product capable of simultaneously reading, writing, and joining multiple third-party relational databases. DDM integrated multiple databases into a single logical RDBMS. DDM included a complete distributed relational engine which provided both vendor transparency and location transparency. DDM was built on the DOME Message Bus, and included Transaction Services. Transaction Services provided the application developer the means to manage atomic transactions across any number of cooperating databases, file access systems, and lock managers.
Supported operating systems included: NEXTSTEP, UNIX, and VMS. Documentation, support, and source code could be available. Encryption algorithms are subject to export restrictions.
