The AccessKit was a set of programming objects that extended the Database Kit access layer, providing complete object-oriented access to SQL database information. With the AccessKit, you could view and manage database information using your own custom objects, while it transparently handled the details of object persistence and object-based retrievals.
The AccessKit also provided leverage through a mapping tool, which allowed you associate the traits (ivars or selectors) of your custom Objeccivc-C classes with their corresponding database properties. A base persistent class exploited this mapping information to give your custom objects persistence behavior through a simple save-and-delete protocol. These mappings also made it easy to construct powerful queries that return retrieval results as instances of your custom Objective-C classes.
